Cronopios Idiomas is a short walk away from Retiro Park and Madrid’s most important museums: Museo del Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Cronopios Idiomas is a young school established in 2012, but it has already been accredited by Instituto Cervantes and is a DELE Inscription Centre.

The average age of our students is between 20 and 35 years, although there are always older students and our experience is that they feel perfectly comfortable and integrated in our classes.

Minimum registration age is 16.

We are an international school; our students come from all corners of the world.

As long as there’s availability for the course you’re interested in, we accept last minute enrolments, that is, the Friday prior to the beginning of the course.

You don’t have to pay in advance, you can pay in person the first day of school, and in doing so save the bank transfer expenses.

Nonetheless, if you do want to pay when you book your course, we will apply a 2% discount to the total amount of your course.

If you need a visa to come to Spain, you have to pay 30% of the course in advance.

Paying in advance is not mandatory, but if the students are willing to do it when they book their course, no charge for cancellation will be applied as long as the cancellation is done at least 21 days prior to the date of the start of the course. 50% of the total fees will be returned for cancellations 2 weeks prior to the date of the start of the course. Fees cannot be refunded for courses or parts of courses missed due to late arrival, illness, early departure and/or other circumstances that do not form part of the cancellation policy.

Students requiring a visa must pay 30% of the course in advance. In the event of student visa refusal, 100% of the total amount of the course will be refunded, with the exception of administrative costs (bank transfer charges, fax, etc), as long as the cancellation is done within at least 7 days prior to arrival. For the return of the payment advanced before the rejection of the visa application, the student must notify us in writing and attach the official notification (including date, seal and signature) issued by the Spanish Embassy or Consulate. In the official notification of refusal, the student’s name, passport number and the visa requested are clearly shown.

Until you feel comfortable speaking in Spanish, we will make sure we can understand each other. There are people on our team that speak several languages (English, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Italian…), and we are happy to adapt to your needs.

Have in mind that you will speak Spanish from the first day, even as a complete beginner. Our Spanish classes are very communicative and you will be surprised at how fast you learn the language.

Many of our students are complete beginners, but communication in Spanish starts to happen very quickly.

The minimum age is 16. In exceptional occasions, we might accept under 16s, but never younger than 14.

Many schools talk about one hour classes, but that doesn´t mean one class is one real hour. When we talk about an hour of class, we are talking about a full 60 minutes, not a 45 or 50 minute class.

No. If you don´t know a word in Spanish, you can join a complete beginners course. If you have previous knowledge we will send you a Spanish level test before starting, along with the details of your course, which must be completed and sent back to us at least a week before the start of your course.

New students start their course every Monday.

If you are a complete beginner, you can start on the given dates for complete beginners. If you have previous knowledge of Spanish, you must first complete a level test, and once completed, we will confirm your level and start date.

We will send you the confirmation of enrolment, which is a document with all the details of your course and accommodation (if applicable), once you´ve sent us the data we have requested (name, address, passport number, type of course, number of weeks, etc).

The contract is signed the first day of school, after the payment.

You can write us an email, or call us (+34 91 5222014), Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00 (GMT -1 ).

If you find that the level of the class you are in is too high or too low, your teacher will be open to discussing what the best option would be in your case.

A change of course must be discussed with our administration staff, who will try to adapt things to your needs.

On public holidays, either national or local holidays, the school is closed. For long term contracts, we don´t make up for the classes missed, since their price is already reduced due to special discounts. For short term contracts, we will not charge you for the days the school is closed.

If you are a complete beginner, we recommend you come 15 minutes before the start of the class.

We will show you our premises, and you will also sign the contract and receive your learning materials.

Classes start at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. Every Monday we give a small presentation of the school and the activities, followed by a welcoming appetizer at 13:20.

All the students get a certificate of attendance (attending at least 80% of course lessons) and a Level certificate at the end of the course. Our school is accredited by Instituto Cervantes but keep in mind that only the certificates issued by Instituto Cervantes after doing the DELE exam are official certificates.

Our school has its own Accommodation Network, made up of families and individuals that have passed a selection process including a visit to their homes from the person responsible for the Accommodation Network at our school.

You can also request information for sharing a flat. We collaborate with Uniplaces over the accommodation in shared flats. Uniplaces provides flats located in some of the most popular neighborhoods in Madrid. You can choose a flat yourself or ask us for help.

Regarding hotels or residences, we can help you to find this kind of accommodation at a reasonable price. Just tell us your needs and we’ll recommend you the lodging that would suit you best.

Madrid is a well-connected capital. You can arrive by train or bus from almost any city of Spain, large or small. There are also trains from Marseille, Paris and Lisbon. Atocha, the main train station in Madrid is a ten minute walk from the school.

Madrid has one of the most active airports in Europe, so it won´t be hard for you to find a flight here.

Public transportation in Madrid reaches every corner of the city, and is not expensive. Madrid is proud to have one of the biggest and oldest Metros in the world. You can buy a transport card for several days, thirteen days or just a number of trips.

It is the biggest city in Spain, but it’s not as big as London or Paris. More than 3 million people live here, but everyone agrees that we can make you feel at home.

Cronopios Idiomas provides a transfer service from and to the airport. The taxi driver will pick you up at the airport or at your accommodation.

The service costs 55€ per trip.

There is also public transport: Metro and bus.

Citizens of the European Union don’t need a visa to come to Spain. Non-European Union nationals should consult the requirements for a student visa in the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in their country. Generally, at least 8 weeks are required to confirm a visa. If, in order to get the student visa, a student requires an enrolment confirmation letter from the school, half of the amount of the course (30%) must be paid before the letter is sent, excluding special conditions for each country. This payment can be done via bank transfer or at the school in cash.

Once Cronopios has received the payment for 30% of the amount of the program, the enrolment confirmation letter will be sent to the address provided by the student. The delivery costs will be included in the contract and should be paid the first day of school. This also applies to a group of students. The student is solely responsible for the entire visa application process.

In summary, these are the steps you have to follow in order to get a school certificate:

  1. Confirmation of the course, number of weeks, start and finish date.
  2. Name, surname. A copy of your passport and the address in Madrid where you will be staying once you are in Spain.
  3. We send you a draft of the school certificate and the program of courses for their review and acceptance.
  4. We need to receive a transfer of 30% of the amount of the course.
  5. We send the original documents to you in your country. We need you to tell us your address.
  6. Regarding other documents, such as travel insurance or the like, you need to confirm them with the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country.

If the student can’t take the course because their visa has been denied, the total amount of the course will be reimbursed with the exception of any kind of administrative expense (€250), as long as the cancellation is made at least 21 working days prior to the start of the course. In order to receive the refund, Cronopios Idiomas has to be contacted by letter or email.

The student must send us the official letter of denial (with date, signature and seal) issued from a Spanish Consulate or Embassy, in which name, passport number and visa requested are clearly visible.

If you’re an au pair, you’ll receive a 10% discount on your final price.

If you are an au pair and you need a visa, don’t hesitate to send us an email and we will be at your disposal to help you get the visa. We’ll need to know the amount of weeks and hours required by the Spanish Embassy so that we can send you a proposal that fits your needs.
